Absolutely Daring: 49ers to make a statement against the Chiefs as Coach, Kyle Shanahan Confirmed the Introduction of Changes to…See Details

49ers are attempting to prevent “post-traumatic stress” from the Chiefs’ meaningless past from creeping in.

As they get ready for their highly anticipated Super Bowl 54 and 58 rematch, Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers are well aware of their record against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I believe that everyone is aware that they have defeated us in the last two Super Bowls. So when you turn on the tape, it can give you a little post-traumatic stress disorder, but that’s just human nature, Shanahan said this week. However, you must take care to avoid becoming entangled in that. This game is unrelated to any previous games. That was a year ago.

Shanahan and the 49ers watched film of San Francisco’s 25-22 loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 58 the previous year, as well as Kansas City’s five victories this season. According to Shanahan, the Chiefs defense has improved from finishing as the NFL’s second-ranked team the previous year.

“Every year, I believe it has become better and better. According to Shanahan, “I felt that our defense last year was the best that we played all year, and I feel that way this year so far.” “They have players that have been playing together for a very long time. They had been carrying out his plan for some time.

The Chiefs defense is ranked in the top 10 once again, and they give up only 17 points per game. However, Andy Reid, the head coach, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are the Chiefs’ two main players.

The offensive line coach for the 49ers, Chris Foerster, said of Andy, “He’s been doing it for so long, does a great job on offense.” “What an excellent staff that is.”

Mahomes has a career record of 4-0 against the 49ers, including the two Super Bowl victories noted above. Reid has a 4-1 record both in the regular season and postseason against San Francisco since taking over as Kansas City’s head coach in 2013.

“Obviously, it revolves around their quarterback, in my opinion. He has a guy who can make a ton of plays, and it puts them in a terrific position to make a ton of plays,” Shanahan remarked. “They constantly experiment with all screens, RPOs; you have to be prepared for new plays, ones you haven’t seen.” Since Andy returned to Philadelphia, I’ve always enjoyed watching him, and he’s still evolving.

By his standards, though, Mahomes is off to a slow start statistically. Mahomes’ 88.9 passer rating is the lowest since he joined Kansas City as a full-time starter, and his 247 passing yards per game are a career low. Shanahan, meanwhile, contends that Mahomes’ stats don’t fully represent the Chiefs’ perfect record.

“Pat is as excellent as it gets, but I think everyone says bad year merely because their numbers aren’t totally out of control. Since his debut season, he has been the best there is, according to Shanahan. “Pat is Pat; he’s the best there is, and I don’t see that changing in the slightest.”

Nick Sorensen, defensive coordinator for the 49ers, concurs.

It’s going to be difficult, regardless of how many times you’ve faced off against Mahomes, Sorensen said. “He’s so challenging because he doesn’t act in the same manner every time. He doesn’t always have to set his feet, but occasionally he does, and the arm angle is never the same. He has a great ability to read the defense and sort of hurl it in the right direction.

Even though the stats suggest that Mahomes and Kansas City’s offense aren’t as strong, the 49ers have firsthand experience with how challenging it is to overcome the Chiefs. In his tenure as 49ers head coach, Shanahan has never defeated the Chiefs. San Francisco only needs to play back previous footage to relive “a little post-traumatic stress”

On Sunday, San Francisco can exact some retribution at home.
