Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, was hurt during yesterday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Watson will be out for the remainder of the season due to an Achilles injury.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson, a second-year quarterback, took Watson’s place at the start of the game but was also knocked out. In came former New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston, who was unexpectedly dropped to third string behind Thompson-Robinson during the week.
Winston finished five of eleven passes for 67 yards and a late touchdown against the Bengals in a 21-14 loss. Following the game, Thompson-Robinson had x-rays taken of his injured hand; preliminary reports indicate that he did not break any bones. Nevertheless, Winston’s availability for Cleveland’s Week 8 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens will be uncertain.
