Longhorn commit and native of Texas According to the most recent On300 rankings of prospects in the class of 2025, Jonah Williams came in at number twenty. The five-star safety is ranked first in his position and 10th in the nation for his class.

Shortly before the 2024 football season for the Horns, Williams made his commitment to Texas. Additionally, he received offers from prestigious universities including USC, Texas A&M, LSU, and Oregon.

Charles Power, Director of Scouting and Rankings at On3, gave the safety a ton of praise in the most recent list of five-star prospects:

“Jonah Williams is a potential queen on the chessboard for defensive coordinators because of his size, athleticism, and playmaking instincts,” Power stated.

“He has the quickness of a top defensive back and the build of a linebacker. On Friday evenings, Williams lines up as a punt returner, wide receiver, and safety, making him a real three-phase player.

“He’s an easy, fluid mover with a good top gear and covers ground in a hurry — whether that’s with the ball in his hands or track a ball carrier,” Power said. “He has exceptional ball skills and can track the football over his shoulder.

He also exhibits exceptional range in coverage. One of the country’s more dynamic players with the ball in his hands, he recorded four interceptions and eight pass breakups as a junior.

Williams is a perfect example of a dual-threat player. Williams can play both sides of the ball and has even had some standout performances during punt and kick returns, much like Colorado’s current two-way star Travis Hunter.

Who else but his future mentor, Texas’ head coach Steve Sarkisian, would be on the sidelines when Williams intercepted a pass attempt in one of his recent star-studded games?

Williams was destined to be a Longhorn, and the country only discovered how excellent he would be as his senior season progressed.
