A night with Dart: Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart brutal Status” Gets Spotlight’ in Reset calls as he Left His Mark With Ole Miss Football” setting up the entire fans in serious chant rally. See details…
Jaxson Dart likely had no idea that his tenure at Oxford would alter the school’s record books when he was named the starting quarterback for the Ole Miss Rebels in 2022.
After one season at USC, Dart had recently transferred to the Rebels, and he had to compete for the starting spot in consecutive seasons, first overcoming Luke Altmyer in 2022 and then Spencer Sanders in 2023.
He succeeded in both pursuits, and on Friday he surpassed Eli Manning as the program’s all-time passing yardage leader, breaking yet another Ole Miss record.
In 2024, Dart made his comeback to Ole Miss with the intention of guiding the Rebels to the College Football Playoffs. Losses to Kentucky, LSU, and Florida this season have dampened those ambitions, but Dart’s time in Oxford should be recognized for the work he did in the Rebels program, even if Ole Miss is unable to backdoor its way into the playoffs.
Although many of Dart’s achievements are more intangible, he is the all-time leader in total offense in addition to Friday’s record. Dart’s unique leadership role in the Rebels locker room has been evident since the previous season, and he played a key role in obtaining one of the best transfer portal classes in the nation this offseason.
The Ole Miss quarterback was also clearly stung by the 2024 losses. It became clear after the games against Kentucky, LSU, and Florida how much Dart cares about this program and how hard he has fought to make it succeed. You shouldn’t overlook that.
Over the past three seasons, head coach Lane Kiffin has also witnessed the development of his connection with Dart, and after Friday’s victory, the two shared an emotional embrace on the Oxford field. Kiffin remarked after the game,
“I just tried to help him keep it together because he cares, man.” “This team is important to him. He has a genuine concern for this university, which is uncommon in college football these days. This man is unique. I hope that’s appreciated.
“It wasn’t actually planned. I generally leave quite quickly. All I wanted to do was track him out and express my gratitude. I was a little moved when he simply declared his love for me and began to cry. I was attempting to act as the coach and halt his tears. But, dude, that’s who he is. In college football, that generation is no longer relevant.
Dart has a similar opinion of his head coach. These records most likely wouldn’t have been broken and he wouldn’t have developed into one of Ole Miss’s most successful quarterbacks if it weren’t for Kiffin’s guidance. Now, if the Rebels win the postseason, they have an opportunity to have consecutive seasons with ten or more wins under Dart’s direction.
“I love Coach Kiff,” Dart declared. “He helped shape me into the player I am today, brought me in, and had a vision for me. Our bond has simply expanded tremendously.
I would fight for him every day of the week because I adore him so much. “You make an effort to please your coaches. I’m really grateful for him and I love him, and I tried to do it every day.”
“You make an effort to please your coaches. I’m really grateful for him and I love him, and I tried to do it every day.” Over the past three years, Ole Miss fans have witnessed the development of a superb quarterback, and when he plays his final collegiate game—the most recent of which was an Egg Bowl victory on Friday—he will leave the fan base with many positive memories.
However, this season may not turn out to be what Ole Miss fans had hoped it would be in terms of making it to the College Football Playoff.
