So sad: worst report on a good day! Tragically” he can’t make it for the saints, not this season” the Orleans saints HC officially fumes bitterly as they looses one of their key asset of the season. See details..
New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Bub Means will miss the remainder of the season after being placed on injured reserve.
According to Thursday’s NFL transaction report, the Saints’ 21-day window to activate Means has closed, requiring him to sit out the team’s final two games per league rules.
Means, 23, was drafted in the fifth round out of Pitt, where he excelled with 41 receptions, 721 yards, and six touchdowns in 2023.
He began his college career at Tennessee in 2019, transferred to Louisiana Tech in 2020, and played there for two years before moving to Pitt.
A leg injury hampered Means during training camp and preseason, limiting him to four games early in the season, where he saw minimal action with 19 offensive snaps and no catches.
However, in Week 6 against Tampa Bay, Means shined during 50 snaps, recording five catches for 45 yards and a touchdown from fellow rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Bub Means made his first career start in Week 7 against the Denver Broncos, recording three catches for 37 yards. The following week, he had a 36-yard reception against the Chargers but suffered a severe ankle injury early in the game, which ended his season.
The injury kept Means out for three games, and although he was placed on injured reserve with eligibility to return before the Saints’ December 8 game against the Giants, he remained inactive.
Despite limited practice participation, interim head coach Darren Rizzi confirmed that a setback in his recovery officially ended his season.
Means finished the year with nine receptions on 15 targets for 118 yards and a touchdown, with seven catches leading to either a first down or a score.
He was one of several key offensive players sidelined for extended periods, including Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Cedrick Wilson, Derek Carr, Kendre Miller, and Taysom Hill.
The Saints, now 5-10, will miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. Their final two games are at home against the Raiders and on the road against the Buccaneers on January 5.
