“Premier League Shockwave: McKenna Plots Sensational Move for ‘Ridiculous’ Star to Become Ipswich’s Next Hutchinson!” See details...
Ipswich Town will think they have the best chance of remaining in the Premier League after this season out of all the promoted teams that emerged at the conclusion of the thrilling 2023–24 season in the Championship.
They now have the most points (15), second only to Southampton and Leicester City, and they just had a surprising 2-0 victory over Chelsea at the end of 2024, which will have given them much-needed confidence.
Ipswich’s determination will be put to the test by the numerous twists and turns that lie ahead, therefore this January transfer window may be crucial to their ability to bolster a team that is fighting for its life.
Kieran McKenna would surely feel more certain that his squad has a realistic chance of staying in the top division if the top-flight underdogs were to execute this rumored swoop.
Ipswich targeting move for Premier League starlet
As per Sky Sports presenter Dharmesh Sheth on X, Ipswich are interested in picking up Jaden Philogene-Bidace at some stage this month
Naturally, the Tractor Boys had reached an agreement to sign the elusive winger from Hull City in the summer, but the Villans came out on top at the last second.
He has only made two Premier League starts due to his lack of playing time at Villa Park, which may allow him to leave Unai Emery’s team on loan very soon. Ipswich will then monitor the situation in case he is released.
What Philogene could offer Ipswich
Once noted for having “ridiculous” ability on the ball by ex-Hull boss Liam Rosenior, this could be a move that gets fans out of their seats at Portman Road on an even more regular basis, with the deal also perhaps seeing Ipswich pick up another star in a similar mould to Omari Hutchinson
Supporters of Ipswich would undoubtedly be expecting for the same magic that Hutchinson consistently delivered while his loan from Philogene last season, as the dynamic 22-year-old was a standout player for the Tigers in the Championship.
Apart from the bold goal above that put him in the hunt for a Puskas award, Philogene would score 11 more goals for Hull before Villa called, and he would also pick up six assists, making him a nightmare for defenses in the second division.
When Ipswich was in the Championship, Hutchinson played similarly for the team. The now-permanent Tractor Boys player scored 10 goals and provided five assists as they won promotion.
When you take into account that the Tigers missed out on the playoff picture, his numbers are arguably more outstanding than his counterpart’s, but the 22-year-old still managed to shine brilliantly.
He might therefore succeed, much like Hutchinson has in spurts, if given more chances to shine in the top flight away from the stuffy atmosphere of Emery’s camp.
With Philogene getting the nod down the left and McKenna left licking his lips at the idea of playing Hutchinson down the right wing, the Ipswich number 20 even scored a goal against Chelsea last time out to defeat his former employers.
Another major plus of this deal would be the fact the wantaway Villa attacker can also play down the right if needed, having played here 11 times for Hull, with Hutchinson also versatile enough to play in a number ten spot
The addition of the 5’11” star might help McKenna’s team take even more scalps to move away from the bottom three, even though it might seem odd that Ipswich would pursue more reinforcements moving forward given the firepower already in place.
