AP top 25 ranks LIVE: week 12′ Lane kiffin Ole miss becomes undisputed super glue in the AP top race after there latest happenings” while Kentucky wildcats still facing serious challenge despite mark pope AP team plans” here is the full ranks…
It’s a positive outcome for Lane Kiffin and company going into the last two weeks of the regular season, even though the AP Poll no longer has any bearing on the College Football Playoff.
Ole Miss has done just that thus far. Postseason prospects have been rekindled by victories over Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Georgia. The Rebels would have an 11 seed in the CFP field if the season ended today.
Although the Rebels still have work to do (they travel to Florida before hosting Mississippi State to wrap up the regular season), their victory over Georgia last week has given both the team and their supporters more confidence. In Oxford, the Bulldogs were always going to be a tough opponent, yet Ole Miss not only prevailed in that match, but also dominated.
Head coach Lane Kiffin offered a notion as to why Ole Miss seems to be peaking at the perfect time, despite the Rebels seemingly being in a completely different position now than they were around a month ago.
Kiffin remarked on Monday, “This was kind of like an NBA free agent team.” “There are many late components and off-season procedures, and it was put together late. What you’re witnessing, in my opinion, is that when those teams are assembled, they occasionally take longer than teams that have been together for years, but eventually they perform better.
“They occasionally make mistakes early in the year. That’s what you’re seeing here, I believe. We are playing as well as anyone in the nation right now, as some people claim, but I believe that’s a result of that.
Once more, nothing is known for sure. Ole Miss needs to perform well in Gainesville and the Egg Bowl in order to have a chance at the CFP, where other teams are still fighting for a slot. However, the fundamental idea is still that this program is in a pleasant mood in the middle of November, which is a terrific time to be there.
“They no longer have faith that they can defeat Georgia or one of the major dogs. They are confident in their ability. For a team with as much skill as Lane Kiffin’s, that is risky at the moment.
