Tractor boys: camp live! McKenna Drops surprise Bombshell” Omari’s Involvement Could Be Closer Than We Think!” Ahead of obvious expectations of dismantling of Brighton this week. See full details…

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has indicated that Omari Hutchinson could potentially feature in the upcoming home games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City on Thursday and Sunday. The forward sustained a groin injury during training shortly after the 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Hutchinson, 21, was unavailable for the 2-2 draw with Fulham and the 3-0 FA Cup victory over Bristol Rovers on Sunday.

When asked about Hutchinson’s chances of being in the squad for the match against Brighton, McKenna said: “It’s not impossible. We’ll need to assess the situation. He trained on the grass today, and we’re optimistic he’ll be available at some point this week.”

McKenna is evaluating how best to manage playing time across games, emphasizing the need for careful judgment. He confirmed there are no new injury concerns following the match against the Pirates, leaving the team with their existing injury list.

Conor Chaplin (knee) and Sammie Szmodics (ankle) remain sidelined for several more weeks, but there was positive news with George Hirst making a return from the bench against Rovers after recovering from a knee issue.

“He’s been very unfortunate, and it’s been a blow for us to lose him,” McKenna said. “His impact as a substitute in previous games was excellent. For example, his contribution in the Brighton away game was pivotal in helping us secure a point. He’s a key part of the squad, understands his role and qualities well, and his maturity adds great value. Having him available again is a significant boost.”

Despite being light on forward options, McKenna highlighted the defensive depth, aided by Ben Godfrey’s signing and Axel Tuanzebe nearing a return from a hamstring injury.

“I don’t see it as a dilemma, just good choices,” McKenna said. “We’re thinner in attack than we’d like, which poses challenges, especially with how we use substitutes. Defensively, we’re in a stronger position, and with Axel close to returning, we’ll have solid options there. That’s where we aim to be in every position for the remainder of the season.”
